Brookings Coastline

Oregon Coast-0236

So came the fog…

We really love a good road trip. Carol and I will usually have some sort of destination in mind but the real fun is in the journey. We’ll look at a map and try to pick out as many cool sites along the way that we can stop and spend a few days at, checking the area out. For years I’ve been told that a trip along the Oregon Coast is a total requirement in ones lifetime and so on this particular trip we were on our way to the White Rock Resort in Smith River, a mile or so from the Oregon California border where we were going to meet up with some family members and have a nice relaxing vacation. These are individual cabins pretty well right on the ocean, a few of them have that million dollar view right from the back deck,  out across the Pacific. Fabulous little place and very nice people running the resort and we had a fantastic time. The fully furnished cabin ( including kitchen suite) we were in, even had a hot tub on an enclosed deck. Very cool indeed. With the exception of a handful of hours of sunshine during the 10 days we were there it rained for 9 of those days. Some many see that as a detriment to a good time but as a photography buff, clouds and sometimes nasty weather can add some tension and mood to an otherwise ho hum sunny day.  While we were there I had some time to drive along the stunning coastline and stop and take a few pictures. After looking at some of these images I think we’re due for another Coastal Highway 101 adventure soon. I couldn’t recommend a drive along the coastal highway in Oregon enough. The scenery really is splendid.
